New York City designers Carole Marshi and Alison Levasseur created CALM to provide women in embattled regions of the world with the opportunity to work, to generate income and to cultivate a sense of pride and accomplishment. Marshi searched the streets and markets of her native Beirut to find women in need to bring CALM's modern designs to life. Each kaftan is lovingly crocheted and sewn in the homes of underprivileged Lebanese women, many of whom are widows.
