I have spent many hours in various markets throughout Africa looking for the perfect mask. These powerful cultural symbols are beloved and highly collectible because of their beauty and the stories behind them. Whether used as wall art or sculpture in your home, they add a touch of exotic interest to any room. I enjoy telling friends about the origins and traditional functions of each of the masks in my collection.
The Fang Tribe are famous for the great refinement of their masks, which display an austere simplicity of form. This mask was typically worn for judicial and social activities and carried at night with torches for a more dramatic effect. This mask is approximately 17" tall and weighs 6 pounds. Stand included.
